IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER
¨ We must understand what causes us to feel unwanted stress. We must look at this from an individual perspective because what stresses one person, may not stress the next person.
¨ We must learn how to bring down our stress levels. If we do not learn how to bring the levels down, ultimately, the stress will begin to affect not only our physical health but also our mental health (we tend to ignore the signs).
¨ We must learn how to deal with others in a calmer, more relaxed state. This is definitely a learned process, because often we react instead of respond. When we react, we allow our emotions to run the show; when we respond, we do so by allowing ourselves to be objective and see all points of view involved, even the ones that are not visible to the naked eye.
¨ We must learn how to effectively prepare ourselves for stressful occasions. Stress is always going to be with us, we just have to learn how to bring it under submission before it brings us under submission.
We must learn how to perceive things from other points of view in order to function at our best. Oftentimes it’s not the situation that is stressful, but rather it is how we perceive the situation.
